Anthony, there is a voltage reduction device, forgot the item name, that 
reduces the voltage to 10 volts constant for these 2 gauges.  It is 
under the dash, rectangular, and easy to check out with a volt meter. 
 If bad, get a new one.

There have been several articles on building a reliable and adjustable 
device, you can built as well.
