Hi Malcolm,

Personally I'm sold on Tandem axle trailers with electric brake. I also like
the Claw type coupler.

I have two 16' tandems, one with rails and one without rails. The one with
rails allows me to strap extra tires, water/gas tanks etc. to the rails.
Having rails does provide many advantages, and you'll have to decide what
the trade offs are for your own needs.

I personally towed a 1978 Dodge Van from California to Minnesota and had a
blow out doing 70-80 miles per hour. Someone had to chase me down to let me
know that I didn't have any tire left on one of the wheels. I blew the tire
and didn't even know it.

I also pulled my Tiger from California to Minnesota to Maryland and back to
Minnesota behind a 1971 Chevy pick-up. I had a blow out on that excursion
too; again doing 70-80 mph. and didn't even feel the trailer quiver. My
comfort speed is around 80 mph., and after these two experiences I don't
think I would ever tow another vehicle on a single axle trailer.

Good luck,

Michael

I am a big advocate to driving but when you need to bring the wife the
kids and over 100lbs of luggage etc. the tiger is stretched a bit thin.

I have been considering a trailer for some time and have borrowed a few.
What kind and size of trailer are you using and what would your
recommend? Also, if there is anyone out there in the
Mid-Eastern/Virginia area that has one for sale please email me off the
list. Thank you and see you at TigersUnited.
