Thanks, you hit it on the head. There was about 2" of water in the pan
in addition to the oil and it was being pumped through the oil
galleries. I believe the water came from a leak (more like a gusher)
from the thermostat housing and then found its way to the dipstick tube
hole that had a cover although it was not sealed very well. The
dipstick tube was installed later in the day so I didn't make the
connection until today. Not exactly what you want on a new engine, but I
ran it today for about 30 secs (still have the leak) and it had good oil
pressure and no water that I could see. Next week will see a thermostat
housing (getting a new non Taiwanese version) and exhaust installed and
I'll know for sure if there are any other issues.
