CAUTION. Do not buy a "pretty" die-cast chrome thermostat housing.
Even those with "O-rings". They are die cast soft pot metal and those
"ears" bend under bolt load allowing the housing to hang on by the
gasket cement. Additionally, the "O-ring" is not properly designed, and
leaks.
They can serve a semi useful service in internally sacrificing their
metal to the electrolysis of dissimilar metals, and save your aluminum
parts (like intake manifold), but separate grounded magnesium disks, as
sacrificial elements in the water tank, is better. (Check J.C. Whitney.)
Classic type Mustang parts houses have repro no-name and original type
Ford logo aluminum thermostat housings that are much better choices.
"Pay the $2, Abbot", you'll be happier in the long run.
