I used CAT stock springs on my MK1. A bit stiffer than original which might be
better depending on how you use or drive the car. As I recall (this was like
20 years ago and the car is now in my son's garage 2,000 miles away) we also
installed adjustable KONI shocks that eased the punishing ride a bit since I
drove it to work every day. The garage attendants in the State Department
basement never complained and they drove it a lot as I could tell when I came
to drive it out at the end of the day and the water temperature was at 180
degrees.
