While no expert in A/C pumps, I have had some repaired at A/C
specialists and have seen the insides of some.
It seems to me that there were NEW gaskets that were of a "sandwich"
construction, with one material bonded to a gasket like material. It
could well be that the piece you are trying to separate came that way
new, and the replacement piece would be just like it, without the wear
and compression marks.
Something to consider. Try looking at the replacement gasket, which
may be hard to find outside specialist suppliers. One in Tampa, Florida
has lots of parts/supplies/kits for custom and kit cars.
