With regard to a "guarantee", a prominent list member purchased a
complete 5.0 new engine from an authorized Ford Motorsport dealer. To
my knowledge, this is the only way you can get one.

It specifically stated that NO guarantee, or warranty comes with the engine.

This lister had numerous problems which resolved to grit left in the
block oil passages during manufacture - before it ever left the factory.

Ford was adamant, and stressed that since these engines were intended
for racing applications, no warranty is issued, and that statement is
available before purchase.

Read the Warranty!!!!!

If you are told you will get some warranty of fitness for service, you
had better get it in writing. The law of "Merchantability" does not
apply to items that specifically deny any warranty of suitability for
purpose, or even correct manufacture.

On the other hand, those that are good come with a heavy duty crank and
block that are unlike the 5.0 they but in production vehicles.
