Phillip,
The cross member is bolted to the frame through tube nuts which are welded
to the frame.  There is a tech tip on how to reinforce the tube nuts to the
frame.  Per my measurements there is 1 5/8 inches from the (bottom of the)
frame to the tube nut on the forward spot and 1 7/8 inches from the frame to
the tube nut on the back spot.  Hence, you would use the longer bolt on the
back.  I also replaced my original bolts with Grade 8 bolts of the same
length.  Be sure to check out that tech tip!
