        I think what your seeing is this; the crossmember has an aluminum
wedge at the mounting points, the bolts are the same length but the wedge
hold one further away.   This is normal and there are lots of threads
holding the bolts.

And another question...

I have noticed that the bolts attaching my front crossmember/subframe appear

to be different lengths (as it appears still attached).  Is that normal, or 
did the previous owner possibly put it together with what was lying around?
