Cliff,

There ia a "thread-sert" device available.  It includes a tap for 
threading a drilled out manifold threaded boss, installing the provided 
"thread-sert" that matches the correct sender.  I was not aware of this 
before I heliarc welded the existing boss closed, and redrilled/tapped 
for original thread.

Sounds like the threadsert method would be easier for those without 
heliarc aluminum welding equipment.
This can, however, be farmed out.  So can the threadsert conversion.
