You've got something there Steve.  It's a wonder that there  aren't more 
accidents at the pumps. 
 Up here in the cold North the problem is people starting the  pump, sliding 
back into the car to stay warm, sliding back out when the pump  shuts off and 
causing an explosion from static electricity.
I thought this was an old wive's tale until I began seeing warning  signs on 
the pumps about this practice.  Guess we need the certified,  professional 
pump jockeys in this area:-)
