Guys,

Back to the original road test times, they all ran with the stock
tyres and no traction bars except for the test by Motor trend as their
car had the traction bars. Of interest is how much of a difference the
SAME ROAD TEST CAR would give with different drivers. I think it had
much more to do with the way the tester got it off the line than
surface or weather.

Road and Track got their tiger to 60 in 7.8 and topped out at 118,
this was the fastest USA road test time for the 0-60. Generaly the
Tigers in the USA were in the 8sec bracket and 120-24 mph top speed.

Autosport in the UK got 7.6 sec 0-60 and noted by george grant "It was
discovered early on that "racing" starts produced pronounced axel
tramp and that the ideal method of driving the car was to trickle off
, and take full advantage of the imense torque of the V8 engine. In
other words, the rigid aaxel employed is immenantly satisfactory for
sensible driving, but will react somewhat visously if harsh methods
are employed"

This i think is interesting as he knew how much time would be lost if
you did not get the car away smoothly.. i'd say to many testers got eh
wheels spining or trampling and lost time... sometimes was quicker to
be slower.
