"Suppose that Shelby had done the following:
He took 100 Tigers of each of the models....MKI, MKIA and MKII."

If this HYPOthetical story follows the path the 1960's Shelby Mustangs took,
then the first 100 would be the hard core performance car like the original
1965 Shelby GT350. This first batch is a no compromise performance car with
driver comfort sacrificed for all out speed. The car has stiffened suspension
with Koni shocks, aluminum wheels, wide tires, locking differential, traction
bars, 4 wheel disc brakes and hipo 289. There are few if any styling
changes, perhaps just the wheels and maybe a racing stripe along with the
Shelby logo plus hood scoop. The seats are the same but steering wheel is
changed to a Shelby Mustang type.
.
The next 100 would still be performance oriented but made "softer" with some
of the hard core racer stuff left out to increase sales. Sort of like the
1966 - 1968 Shelby Mustangs compared to the 1965s. No more locking diff, Koni
shocks are gone, traction bars are left behind and drum brakes return on the
rear axel but the hipo 289 stays. With this lot of Tigers the bumperettes
are left off, fog lamps are mounted, hood scoop , vented hood, racing stripes,
chrome head light rings and there are seats with Shelby name imprinted..

The last 100 cars would not be made by Shelby but are assembled by some other
factory. The car would still have some performance but nothing like the
original 100 cars. The interior will have Shelby logo seats and door panels,
Shelby steering wheel, fog lamps, aluminum wheels, larger hood scoop and more
vents on the hood, fender vents, lots of stripes, 289 with a 4bl carb, Shelby
logos all over the body and a chromed MK II grille. .

When there is a car show the owners will argue that the original 100 cars are
the "true" Shelby Tigers as Carroll Shelby conceived the car. The next 100
are Shelby Tigers but were compromised to increase sales. And the last 100
are Shelby posers because they were assembled by a third party and are the
least performance oriented of the series. Price at auction would be higher
for the first 100, less for the second 100 and the least expensive are the
last 100 cars.

                             Jeff
