        The stainless steel hoses should not have this problem as far as I
know.
Check to make sure the rear wheel cylinders can float.   They are in a slot
and are suppose to float back and forth some.
I would also bled the lines and make sure there is no contamination in the
fluid.

Thanks to all; I've had the drums off and inspected the shoes, etc., but
hadn't considered the flexible line.  All three (2 up front and 1 in back)
are the stainless steel style and I don't know when they were installed
(I've had the car for two years).  Do the stainless style flexible lines
have rubber liners; if not, are they still subject to the same constriction
problem?
