The 5 speed transmission, with new shift linkage bushings (they are at least 15
years old now, and may be nonexistent on that car), shifts nearly as well as
the one in my '89 Honda CRX. In other words, quick, precise, and way nice! Do
use a thin fluid, like the GM synchromesh trans fluid, and don't use gear oil.
Thicker fluid will gum up and ruin the oil thrower (I hear) and also slow the
synchro action for third (I dunno why, but it is true!)

A friend of mine owns a local wrecking yard which has a TR7 5 spd. It is
in reasonable condition(not wrecked), runs well, and could had quite
cheap ~$500. If anyone out there is interested in the whole car let me
know (or even if you need some major components).

Seeing this car and some of the data on the WWWedge page leads me to
a thought. Is this 5 spd a trans that can be easily fitted into a TR4A?
Has anyone out there ever considered this? Does this trans shift as
beuatifully as the older TR4-6 4 spd.
