Joe,

Disconnect the control rod.  This is the rod connected to the lever under the
dash.  There is a speed nut that holds the rod to the vent door.  Pry off the
speed nut, slide the rod off of the vent crank arm and the vent will now open
far enough to remove the bolts with a socket wrench or a nut driver.
