Chad,

This is a "long shot", but I had the same trouble and found that I had
bolted down the valve cover too tight and one of the tappets was tapping the
underside of the valve cover. I had checked the valve settings several times
before finding this. Yeah! I know it is a simple fix to a simple problem,
but I'm a simple mechanic!
