HARDWARE STORE! Some of these things still exist around, even though the
big chains have tried to drive them out. Look for one with bins of nuts,
bolts, screws, etc. They're great.
The big three wanted fifty to seventy-five cents for some of the bolts I
was looking for. The local parts stores wanted a buck and a half EACH
for some of the bolts. (Those little plastic packages must be
expensive!) Our local True Value hardware store stocks grade eight bolts
and nylocs for anywhere from three cents to twenty cents. They have
stainless bolts and nuts, all kinds of pins that can be cut to length,
and just about everything else you could imagine.
I have replaced many of the nuts, bolts, pins, washers.... on the TR6 and
have walked out of the store with bags full, for less than most other
places charge for one or two.
There's nothing better than an old hardware store, I hope they never get
replaced by the modern, everything-wrapped-in-hermetically-sealed-plastic
and way-over-priced mega-mall-faceless-serve-yourself-and-get-lost-super
store.
Whew, I feel better already.....thanks. Think I'll go buy another
handful of split washers. :-)
