Leaky Differential, TR6

Hi folks.

Anybody out there ever successfully remove the rear cover on a TR6 diff (to
change the gasket, maybe?) WITHOUT removing the diff from the car?  Can the
diff hang on the forward two mounts while the rear cover is removed?  Is it
possible?  My diff is really losing a lot of oil, and I'm sure that most of
it is oozing past the gasket.
