stalk knobs

I am puzzled by the fact that the new headlight/flasher stalk that I
bought for my '74 TR-6 came without the plastic molded knob bit on the
end of it. The shaft ends with splines. The seller says that this is
the  way they come from Lucas. How do I get a new knob. I tried to get
the knob off my old shaft but it wouldn't budge. Any thoughts -
suggesetions?
