I look to the collective wisdom again:

I noticed that my TR6 block was a little moist around the fuel pump.
Not WET, but just a little moist. While I was checking the oil the
other day, I casually smelled the dipstick (my neighbors always look at
me funny when I do this) and I got a faint whiff of fuel. The oil level
was actually a little low. I then pulled the oil filler cap off and
stuck my nose in the valve cover. WHOA! I might as well have crawled
into the fuel tank! GASOLINE! My first thought was that the fuel pump
diaphragm was bad, and has been dumping gas into the block. But the oil
level was LOW! In the last fifteen months of owning the car, I've never
noticed it burning or leaking any oil to speak of. Now, isn't this
backwards? I thought that if the pump was bad, the oil level would be
excessively high. I do get rotten mileage, but the car seems to run
fine. Could fuel be getting into the block from somewhere else??

Wouldn't you know this weekend my wife and I were planning on driving it
in our local British car club rally!! AAARRRRGGHHHHHH!!!!!

PLEASE HELP!
