Where the filler is depends on the year of the transmission your car. The
early cars have a dipstick in the tranny which is accessed through a 2 inch
rubber plug on the passenger's side of the tranny cover from inside the
vehicle. The rubber plug may show through your carpet but also may be
concealed beneath it, or may be absent completely. Filling is done through
the same opening. If you have a later transmission there is a square headed
steel plug, not unlike the plug in the oil pan, in fact, I think the same,
about half way up the middle of the body of the tranny on the passenger's
side of the vehicle
What you are describing is NOT the filler plug and has to do with the innards
of the tranny and should not be messed with..
