GT6 MkI Commission Numbers

Andy (or somebody):
I am confused (not unusual these days).  Thomason's Guide to
Originality shows a total production run of 15818 GT6 MkI's
with a commission number range from KC1 to KC13752.  Where did
the other 1056 cars go?  I'm sure there is a logical explanation
for this but it escapes me at the moment.
