Check out the vacuum advance, shaft for wear, can lobes for wear, springs
and weights, and spring plate. Replace any worn parts.

Distributor rebuild shops might have some of these parts.

Also consider removing the vacuum advance all together. Distributor rebuild
shops can respring and reweigh the Distrib to give you a mechanical advance
curve to fit your engine and driving habits.

P.S. An old Distrib shaft and an old clutch pilot bushing make for a very
workable clutch aligning tool.
