RE:TR6 gearbox bench checkout- please help!

TR6 transmissions are known for weak counter shaft (lay shaft)
bearings.   If you have any doubt, tear down the tranny and check them
out.  TRF sells closed cage counter shaft bearings that can be used in a
slightly damaged counter shaft.

As for the gear play, the Bentley manual has a good section on the
tranny, and from what I remember, gives clearances between various
mainshaft gears and syncros.
