Several weeks ago I got an estimate of $320 to paint my engine
compartment.I took out everything except the basic engine including
exhaust,starter, wiper motor etc, etc. I explained that the car had
three coats of different paint and would likely need to be taken down to
metal.Picked the car up and found the paint was badly lifted on the
underside of the hood, and some inaccessible parts had not been touched.
To add insult to injury, the bill was $ 400. They claimed they had
already lost money on the deal because of all the hand sanding, and
would repaint the hood if I got it media blasted and brought it back. My
question is "was $320 a reasonable price for a complete job, or did I
get screwed.?"I felt at the time it was a very reasonable price for a
fair amount of work. Would other listers hve paid up, or demanded to
have it done properly at the quoted price? I have used these people
before with no problems.Thanks in advance for your input.
