        Ashley,

several years back I rebuilt my TR4 engine in the process of
having the crank balanced I hav my `4's flywheel lightened.
Originally I wanted the machinist to remove 10 lbs... I wanted it
lighter, but I was concerned about not making that "boat anchor"
too flimsy. Well, the fellow got carried away and took off 14lbs of
metal. It's been on the car ever since. I've noticed a slight
decrease in spin-up and spin down time but I wouldn't want to have
to quantify it. I think the important thing here is to have the who
        turning assembly balanced...

While you're at it have the crank, shot peened, or nitrided and
have the rods and pistons balanced too. I think you'll like the
        performance improvement.
