And what still amazes me is that not only is the crank huge, and heavy,
and is running on three mains. This was very definitely an old
technology engine on the bottom end, and yet, the Triumph engineers
created a very sound design for the combustion chambers and runners. As
I recall, the changes Kastner recommended to those items were mostly in
finishing details and tweaks, rather than radical surgery. With limited
manpower, Triumph didn't do too badly in that respect.
