Here's a guess- DOT5 does not absorb water like DOT4 and DOT3-- so if you
have moisture in the lines, then it all collectes in a big "puddle" at
one point in the line.  If the water boils, the system would be
pressurized-- and if it can't be releived, then wouldn't the brakes seize
on?

Before doing anything expensive, bleed the brakes.
