        Listerati,

A friend of mine got a TR6 overdrive tranny for "free" with his
barn-fresh Jag XK 120 project. Although I've never lusted after an OD,
I'm thinking of installing it next winter just so I can participate in the
20-W50 vs. SAE 90 threads (I feel so alone sometimes...)

        Since installing a J-type in a TR250 requires some
modest frame mods, I'm eager to ascertain what type of OD it
is. Can anyone tell from this description?

"The trans we were talking about is
a Stanpart. Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit. The serial no. is
22/61753/004459 It was buit by Laycock Eng Ltd in Shefield. In the
right side stamped is 306812 sm"

I'm grateful for any guesses. I'm off on a 5 day business
trip tomorrow, but I'll try to send my thanks to everyone who
replies when I return.

        Best regards,

        Tom Marincic
