I have the junk yard recovery head in the workshop and it is from a TR4...
1963 and all the parts a very original. It has the same number.
But my circa 1966 TR4A head that is out at the machine shop is different.
All the parts... springs, valves etc that are used in the rebuild are
specific to the TR4A head. The TR4A head is supposed to be a better
breather although I don't know the specifics.
BTW... I just checked my new Piggott book on the TR4/A and he says that
after CT21471 the head was redesigned with new shaped combustion cambers
and better flow characteristics. The intake manifold was changed here as
well to the Y-shaped longer "better flow" design.
Hope this helps.... they could all start from the same casting... that
casting number is not called out in the parts catalog.
