  As I understand paint prep, it etches the surface of the metal to 
  give the paint or primer something to grab onto. "Sand" blasted 
  metal is already etched from the "sand" so prep should not be 
  required... Just make sure whatever you intent to paint is 
  thoroughly clean and degreased (a product like Prep-Sol is good 
  for this purpose).
