I watched a pro rebuild an MG gearbox at a recent club tech session and
he wore latex gloves the whole time.  In addition to keeping his hands
cleaned... it looked very hygenic ;^)

I've tried the cheapo vinyl gloves that fit loosely and have had no
problem with solvents... even used them with paint stripper which is
about the ultimate solvent.  Just bought a box of the latex gloves that
Moss sells to try in get the tactile sense you mention but haven't tried
them yet.
