Jonathan,

You might be able to lock your TR-6 doors from the inside by pushing the handle
forward instead of pulling it back like you normally would to open the door.
Pushing the handle forward slides a lever back at the lock mechanism that will
lock the door. I say might, because there is a torsion spring involved that is
very often broken which will prevent the handle from locking the door from the
inside. Look at the end of the long lever that runs from the interior handle
back to the lock
mechanism. You'll see a 1" dia. drum with a torsion spring around it just
before the tang that fits into the lock mechanism. The torsion spring should
have two legs locating it and keeping it under tension. Often, you'll find one
of the legs broken. If one of the legs is broken the door will often still
open normally, but the lock function rarely works if the spring is broken.
While you have the doors apart, take a look and see if that spring needs to be
replaced - your TR-6 may already have
the function you're looking for without the electronics!
