1) There is a little hole at the base of the knob's shaft. Push a pin or sm
all nail up in there to release the lil ball lock thingee and wiggle the kno
b off. They are tight, but they do come off.

2) Don't worry about not being able to see the oil. If you hit resistance a
n inch before it screws in you have plenty of oil in the dashpot.

I have just recently obtained my second 75 TR6. As I have read the various
posting the last couple of weeks, I am somewhat embarassed asking the
following two questions.
 1. How the heck do you get the various knobs (blower, defrost, heater, etc
)
off of the shafts? Do you pull them, turn them, or what. I want to replace
them with new ones but I just can't seem to get the old ones off.
 2. I have Stromberg 175 carbs. In accord with what I have read, if the
dashpot oil is proper, you should feel pressure about 1/4 inch from the
plastic cap entering the screw on. I bought dashpot oil and added just a
little (not more than a teaspoon) and still couldnt visually see any peering
into the shaft. Anyway, I felt substantial pressure over and inch or so fro
m
the cap entering the mechanism. Can anyone give me usable information in
this regard.....thanks
