Well TeRrific listers, Dave, Pat:

I too just spent two days installing the doorlocks (more on this), windows
seals-on my TR4. I thought I have been repeatedly told that the window pane
and bottom rail will NOT go in with the seals installed, so I carefully (not
tro scratch the door lip openings) inserted prior. Now I had a series of
problems which I 'engineered' some fixes' to the following:

1) I rebuilt the window channels with new channels and careful drilling and
pop riveting.

2) The slotted window channel , the one the glass is mounted into (and which
show evidence of rust-but still functional (and not available from Moss)
kept 'popping off' the regulator pins, as the pins were so worn the new
Clips
 (MOSS, item 87, page 69, 317-020 at $2.70 each -10%= $2.43ea -I have 4 new
ones-4 old ones) would not hold.
I drilled out the pins, used aircraft bolts with 'big' fender washers with
the oil soaked new leather washers (Nylock nut on outside to not interfere
with regulator arms)- and now will never have a problem with the window
slipping off the regulator.

3 When adjusting the front and rear glass channels, roll the window up and
down and in each position adjust the tension of the securing bolts to the
channel, otherwise the channels will twist and the glass will 'pop off' as
at some positions in the 'up/down' run, the contact is actually minimal-
(the glass does not maintain full contact at the rear throughout the
travel).

4) My left glass pane seemed to be cocked downward in the front, maybe the
glass was not set properly in the (although it appeared to be as level as
the right pane), and at this point-I can't remove the glass without
destroying the slotted channel, but I found that by letting the channel rest
on top of the front pin-that when I raised the window the front of the glass
now fits properly with the A pillar and the top front windshield corner, so
that when the window is 'up' it now meets the top properly at the top edge
and back edges of the glass pane.-Hasn't worked this well in a decade. Since
the tension is against the regulator -as long as I roll slowly- she works
fine, except the glass still sticks up @ 1 1/2 inches at lowest position.
(Like some new cars-full down, glass still 'sticks up a little)
(I have a choice-full up and level for top sealing, or full down. For summer
and Tonneau use-I could reposition the glass in the slot).

5) The fuzzy strip clips are a problem installing now- I'm still working on
it-I've got a few clips onto the door, but the strip will not 'pop' into the
little tab. The driver side the strip is now staying in place- but the
passenger side it 'pops' up and off'
May have to 'disassemble' or maybe a little 3M black weather-strip adhesive.
The best for many many fixes- better than locktite-better than gasket stuff-
heat and temp extremes, oil, gas resistant- super stuff!

6) Since I have a TR4, and those beautiful chrome door pulls- I don't have
to worry about gluing door pulls-(just finding the right threaded chrome
screws)
