Adrian, you only have to run the nuts down far enough to fit them both on
the threaded part of the stud.  Then you jam the two nuts against each
other.  This makes for a temporary "hex head" that allows you to turn the
stud.  Then you remove the nuts.

No

Just run them untl they stop.  The threads will lock when the head is
torqued down.  Do not use locktight.  It is not necessary and it will foul
up the next disassembly which you will be doing in about 2033.  ;-)
