1. should i be concerned about not having the seat belt interlock system
connected? 2. are there other "must be connnected" wires i may have missed
that could keep
     the engine from firing?

if i've got fuel in the carbs, spark at the plugs, plenty of air
available, what could i still
be missing? pls ask any questions that may help me/you deduce the problem.
thanks for your help.

Tom,

1) no the interlock inhibits the starter. If you are cranking that is not
the problem.
2) If you have spark at the plugs then all is normal there.

Next question: is the spark occuring at the right time? If you have a
timing light check to see if the firing is accouing at TDC for cyl's 1 and
6.

Good luck

Dave
