Ken,

Power to your brake lights comes from the brake switch via a green with 
purple stripe wire. If the right hand light works, you are getting power to 
the rear of the car. Your most likely problem is a bad ground connection on 
the left side. Use a mild abrasive, such as steel wool or fine sandpaper, and 
thoroughly clean the ground connection. If this doesn't cure the problem, 
look at the G/P wire connections to the light on the left side. You may need 
to clean this connection as well.
