Frank:
I used the foil covered bubble wrap that is used to insulate duct work in
HVAC systems. Try home depot or a funace and duct supply place.
It's about 1/8" thick and is a great insulator. I used it in my Sunbeam
Tiger, which are notorious sweat boxes with the V8 right next to your feet.
Glued it in with panel adhesvie, and put the carpet over it. Easily dropped
the interior temp. 30+ degrees.
