Hello the list:

This may be a common question or not. A long time ago when I was touching
some BBSs and lists, exhaust questions were common. I have been off the LBC
'net for a while.

I have a '72 TR6 with an Ansa exhaust. I drove my poor car into the ground
in 1990. I then very very slowly started to reconstruct her. Now after 10
years off the road she has just finished a total refit. Just passed
inspection and licencing last week. Unfortunately It seems that while the
car is looking better than it did 10 years ago, I cannot say the same for
myself. Along with advancing age (now an old man of 38) seem to have come
sensitive ears. At 3000 rpm on the highway the resonant roar is deafening. A
TR6 is a difficult thing to drive with one's fingers in one's ears...
Curious, I seem to recall enjoying the "healthy note" of the car. Now it
sounds like a terrorist attack or a tank rolling by. I notice people
cowering and holding their briefcases over their heads as I pass by. Police
are watching me... again. But I digress...

I love the look of the 4 chrome tips under the valence, and I hate the look
of the double spaghetti of the stock system. I was going to buy a Stebro SS,
but was told that it is even louder than the Ansa. I listened to one and it
seemed about equal. Moss is selling a "sport Stainless Steel Exhaust". Part
number 860-270. Twin mufflers like the Ansa, but two tips. I guess that's
OK; perhaps I can chop up the Ansas and weld the tips to the ends of the
Moss units (engage Frankenstein mode). However, I am worried that I will
replace my Ansa system only to have the same level of sound. I found one
1997 repetition of this situation on the list. Seemed hopeful.

Does anybody have an opinion of how the MS sport system sounds relative to
stock. Relative to Stebro/Ansa/Monza? They make a free-flow, but I assume
it's just like the Ansa or Monza noisepipes. Need to act soon. Seeing black
helicopters everywhere.

Thanks,

Mark Hooper
