I, too had my TR6 (J-type) set up for 2nd overdrive but I found that 2nd
O/D to be redundant with 3rd direct (same revs at the same speed) so I
unplugged the inhibit switch (why are they called inhibit switch when what
the switch is actually doing is enable?). The other problem I found with
2nd O/D is that sonce the J-type has no accumulator it engages only as fast
as the pump is operating and at the lower speeds it can take one second or
longer to engage and you have to play the anticipation game - switch before
you want it to engage and hope it engages when you expect it to. Adds a
little extra challange to the driving experience.

My problem was that I leave the switch in the engage position and when
taking off from a stop I accelerate in 1st then shift to second and just as
I am moving along nicely the O/D kicks in. Now that doesn't happen until
3rd. Whatever.

Cheers

Dave
