I'm sorting out my 'new' TR4A CTC 74217 LO for which the overdrive
(22/61712) came apart in a box. The unidirectional roller clutch
disintegrated and bits are all over, but all gear teeth seem OK. However,
the outer race for the roller clutch which is embedded in the annulus is
cracked, although the annulus itself seems OK. All of the diagrams I have
seen (TR shop manual, Laycock manual, various catalogs) all depict this
bearing surface attached or retained by 3 or 4 dowels or rivets, although
the race seems to be a separate part pressed in the annulus housing. None of
the diagrams show a part or a part number for this. Do I have to replace the
entire annulus? I see I can get the roller assembly, but it appears not to
come with the outer member.
Also, anyone who can steer me to a knowledgeable mechanic / shop would be
appreciated.
thanks
January
