I would guess your jet seals are at fault. I just refit my carbs with all new
gaskets and seals. A thorough clean up was warranted after almost 10 years. I
didn't have any leaks but the jets wouldn't move allowing a "choke". After
discovering, via the list the leak free replacement for the jet cork seals, I
decided to give them a try. I figured they would never get hard and prevent the
jet from moving in the future. Well so far so good. There are no leaks and the
choke works fine. The engine sure runs smooth both at idle, cruise and
acceleration. The refit took only a Saturday morning since I didn't remove the
carbs from the manifold.
