David, Had the same problem on my tr3a....turned out to be the pawl which was
chipped and would not catch on the ratchet gear......got a replacement from Moss
, installed it (with instructions from the Haynes manual) and it now works like
a charm! Now it "Flys Off" like it's supposed to.

Okay, I completely understand how it is "supposed" to work. But, it does not
seem to be working this way. So, how do I go about "refurbishing" it?

Thanks to all for the lesson on operation & history. Boy, this list is cool
