I need to find the Commission number for my TR4 since the plate with the CT
number on top of the firewall was not with the car when I bought it. I have
the body number plate but it is hard to read since it was painted over. Last
night I put the car up on jack stands and crawled under with a mirror to get
the rear axle serial number. To my surprise there was no sign of a number.
The top was fairly clean so I could see a number if there was one. The only
number I can find is cast into the rear of the housing on the left. I can
easily read it buy looking at it while the car is still on the ground. It is
301603. I know the car is 38 years old so the rear end could have been
swapped. I know the engine is from a TR4A. Could the rear end be form a
Triumph without a number on it?
