No go.
The problem seems to be fuel not spark. Gas is getting through the line
right
up to the carburetor but nothing seems to be happening after that. I have
both the Haynes manual and the Ball Workshop Book but I know so little
about
carburetors in general and Strombergs in particular. A neighbor who used to

do this for a living on Chevy's shook his head at the Strombergs and wanted

to know what the equivalent of the 'accelerator pump' was on these things.

Jim, like all carbs (Holley's, Rochester's, Carter's, Stromberg's and
SU's) your carbs have a valve that is operated by a float that regulates
the fuel level at the fuel jets. This valve works just like the fill valve
on your toilet. It sounds like this valve is stuck closed (from years of
non-use) and once freed up will likely work OK again. But the reason it is
stuck is from varnish from the gas that used to be there and your carbs
could probably use a good cleaning.

And, no, the Stromberg does not have an accelerator pump. It has a
variable venturi and the damped opening of the venturi has the same effect
as the accellerator pump on a fixed venturi model.

Good luck

Dave
