Just to inform Triumph enthusiasts that this year's UK Run concluded
Sunday afternoon after the better part of 1200 miles overall for most
competitors. The route itself was 800 miles long, dodging all the Foot
& Mouth no-go areas, starting and
finishing at BMIHT Gaydon.
Dinner last night (Saturday) was taken at St. Davids in Pembroke -
about as far west as you can go in Wales without falling into the sea.
Then followed a long overnight haul in pouring rain via the Peak
District
skirting Sheffield and Doncaster to Beverley Minster.
Back south over the Humber Bridge via Lincoln to a breakfast stop at
Sleaford. Then on to Peterborough, north west via Nottingham to Derby
with the final stop at Lichfield and back to Gaydon
No accidents but three mechanical casualties who still made the
finish.
Vehicles taking part were
1 x Spitfire Mk 4 1300. 1 x Spitfire Mk 4 1500, 3 x GT6 Mk 3, 1 x
Vitesse Mk 2 convertible, 2 x TR6 PI, 1 x 2000 saloon,
1 x 2500S saloon, 1 x 2.5PI saloon, 1 x Stag
Lots of fun and the better part of GBP3000 raised through sponsorship
for charity.
Next Cathedrals Run is 2003 (probably going to France) tho I'm
organising another UK charity event next year (date TBA). Your 'entry
fee' is the participation cost for the crew plus the money you extract
from your sponsors. Contact me off list if interested
