It might not be recommended but....I have an 89 Grand Marquis with a
temperamental tank.  They all rot at the bottom corner areas.  The car is
is just a high mileage beater that I drive 110 miles per day and I don't
feel like changing the tank.  I tried using the tank repair epoxies as
well as JB Weld.  The best by far was Bondo with the fiberglass strands
in it.  Clean the area well and apply liberally around the perimeter of
the affected area.  It's real sticky and dries fast and hard.  After it
cures sand and paint.  I haven't had a leak in over 50K miles with this
repair.
