My car, CT 7486 LO, a 1962 TR4, had the radiator hole, but there is no
evidence that it was ever hand-cranked. ( No crank handle, no valance
scratches )

To help line up the hand-crank correctly, the TR2-3 had a very solid bracket
mounted inside the mouth opening for the grille. On the TR4 there was a much
thinner bracket that mounted to the front bumper. Each type of bracket had a
hole through it to allow the handle to line up correctly and to keep the
handle away from the valance.
